Ayumi Nakamura, MD, PhD is a board-certified adult psychiatrist. She grew up in Chapel Hill and later obtained her MD and PhD from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. During her PhD, she investigated the biological underpinnings of various neuropsychiatric disorders. She then completed her adult psychiatry residency at Duke University, where she also studied the impact of long COVID in brain health.
Dr. Nakamura specializes in the diagnosis and comprehensive treatment of depression, anxiety, bipolar and psychotic disorders, attention-deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), and PTSD/trauma and stressor-related disorders in adults ages 18 and older.
